What Causes Severe Noise Sensitivity?

I had an ear infection about a month ago. I have been dealing with a roaring sound in my ear. They are both stopped up most of the time. I m extremely sensitive to noise and it s driving me crazy. I ve had a steroid shot and am going to the ENT next week. What is this and will it ever go away?
