Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have periodic gagging. This happens at various times of day and night. I know I am not pregnant, but may have the return of an ulcer, although the pain is not anywhere near what I experienced in the past from an ulcer. The gagging comes on unexpectedly sometimes a bit after I have eaten, but most of the time just randomly and not associated with food or drink. At night most of the time I wake with a horrible nausea wishing I could throw up more than actual gagging. The gagging is not just a small gag, it brings tears to my eyes and I have to stop what I am doing to get it under control. The only medication I am on is a Murena IUD. Occasional Ibuprophen or acetamenophine (rarely). Any thoughts?
As per my clinical experience, there can be GERD giving stomach acid reflux from various reasons. It is strongly recommended to get an upper GI endoscopy for the best evaluation and management guidelines.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
