What Causes Severe Nausea And Fatigue?

What might intermittent symptoms of nausea (no vomiting ) and weakness over a long period of time (since christmas) in a woman of 85 mean? She has had one hospitalization with doctors looking for lung problems. She has pulmonary fibrosis but but didn t feel at the time that her then symptoms were pertinent to her then situation. Her doctors did not find them to be. She was told by her primary doctor that her condition was related to age-related fatigue. Neither of us believe that to a correct diagnosis.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Fatigue is not a cause for nausea, it is possible , if there is excess fatigue that the cause of the fatigue is also the cause of the nausea but there is no direct link.

Some causes of persistent nausea include: (1) side effect of medication
(2)GERD- reflux can present with this symptom only in some persons
(3)gastroparesis- there is delayed emptying of the stomach
(4)liver or kidney disease
(5)high levels of calcium
(6)headaches
(7)mass in the abdomen
(8)infection

Blood tests such as full blood count, ESR, kidney and liver function test, calcium levels- may be needed along with imaging

I hope this helps
