I was taking flucloxacillin until last night I started getting severe pain in my middle to lower back causing me total discomfort walking or bending i only started taking it 3 days earlier I also had diarrhoea and nausea does that mean I m not suitable for it
Hi. Thanks for your query, albeit short and specific. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Your problems started as diarrhea and nausea 3 days ago for which you have been given Flucloxacillin and now you have severe pain in middle to lower back causing discomfort that walking and bending are painful. This may be due to a local cause like muscle spasm or something to do with spinal cord compression and inter-vertebraljoint inflammation. This can be diagnosed by a clinical evaluation by an Orthopedic Surgeon and thus getting proper diagnosis and management. MRI of the affected area helps further. Flucloxacillin may not be the drug of choice in intestinal infection causing diarrhea hence you may need another antibiotic active against intestinal infection. Take plenty of oral fluids, electrolyte solution, symptomatic and supportive management. Get started with a PPI like Omeprazole as you may need anti-inflammatory medications which may cause gastritis.
