What Causes Severe Lower Back Oaub After Lumbar Laminectomy?

Hi. In 2012 I had a very successful lumbar laminectormy with fusion. Four weeks ago, I fell... very hard and IMMEDIATELY felt a sharp pain in my lower back, left side. I saw my Primary Care physician and was told that I had probably damaged some ligaments and that I needed to give it time to heal and to gently perform a a back exercise. That was 1-1/2 weeks ago and the simplest daily chores cause pain. Sitting, standing, turning over in bed - all cause me pain. I CAN say that the areas where my hips connect seem to be better, but simply bending or stooping still cause great pain in the area of my lower spine. Should I have had an xray to rule out any serious damage? I am 59, prior military, in relatively good shape (except for this), and I realize I don t heal as quickly as I used to, but this is beginning to wear me out!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi.
thanks for posting on hcm.
usually if it this a ligament injury by now at least there should be some improvement if you have taken painkillers and given proper rest and care.
at present i would suggest you to get an x ray of spine done to be on safe side in view of your past surgical condition.
hope this helped you.
regards
