What Causes Severe Left-sided Thigh Pain?

Hello, My son woke up to severe pain in his left thigh. He is 8 years old. This was 2 weeks ago. He woke up yelling in pain. We had x-rays that were clean. Today his blood work was also normal. The pain comes back and hinders him from walking about every 2-3 days. Today he feels better. No fever.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

If the x ray and blood tests did not reveal any abnormalities, it is possible that his symptoms may be due to issues with the nerves in the area.

Nerve dysfunction (abnormal function) can be a cause of severe pain. This can be temporary or permanent.

Some causes include: (1)low levels of vitamin b12 or folate
(2)abnormal levels of vitamin b6, low or high levels can do it
(3)diabetes
(4)trauma
(5)liver or kidney disease
(6)infection
(7)side effect of medication
(8)neurological conditions

It would be best, since all the other tests are normal, to consider taking him to see a neurologist to find the cause of his pain.
Nerve conduction testing may be needed.

I hope this helps
