What Causes Severe Knee Pain In Intervals To A 8 Year Old?
my 8 year pld daughter has severe pain in her knees, it comes in twop months intervales...the first couple times it was just one then and now two, it has been this way for a few years at least...no history in the family on my side...possibly her mother as her mother calls them growing pains so I would guess she spoke of knowledge...the pain does leave, usual interval a half hour...and possibly an improvement when massaged when she claims the pain continues to the calf

pain at bed time in the legs is common is this aged children. we are not sure exactly what the cause is. sometimes it may be that the child likes parental company when going to sleep. it does not generally represent any serious medical problem.
pains in both knees at other times in the day particularly if associated with a limp or any redness or swelling in the knee should be further investigated.
X-rays and blood work and 1st line investigations. your doctor would want exclude and inflammatory arthritis such as juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
