What Causes Severe Kidney Pain After Kidney Stone Removal?

My son (46) had a kidney stone removed yesterday. The stent was removed this morning and he has just returned home, but after taking a bath and sitting down to relax, he started having severe pain over the kidney region of his back. He says it is much more severe than before the stent was inserted. He is doubled up on his knees with a heat pack on the area and his wife gave him some panadol. What else can we do, does he have to go back to the hospital? Please advise ...

I really appreciate your concern, with such history of stenting and stone surgery and not facing the pain so it could be infection, inflammation of urinary tract infection, and in my opinion it is better to see the ER hope this information helps.
