What Causes Severe Itchiness In The Groin Area?

Hi Dr I have been having itching in groin for sometime now. The color of the skin changed there Used zeclobate gm cream as OTC on a pharmacist advise... Bb ut I read here in these column that it is too strong. I again got the recurrence of the same now. Could you please suggest alternative.

The preparation that you are using contains steroids as well as antifungal and antibacterial agents. You need to use only antifungal and the steroid will only give symptom relief temporarily. Please switch over to plain antifungal creams like those containing Miconazole, Econazole or Terbinafine.For lasting relief you might need systemic antifungals too. In addition anti allergic medications like Cetirizine should provide you good relief from itching. Please keep the affected area well ventilated and avoid sweating if that is possible. I hope your sugar levels are within normal range. take appropriate steps to check the problem.
