Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
for the past 5-6 months i can lay down for 1-2 hours, and then I wake up in severe pain with my right hip and lower back. I am unable to sleep anywhere except my recliner, and that is only for brief periods of time. is this an indication of a hip replacement.
This pain could either arise from your hip or sacroiliac joint. You need to sit cross leg and see if your pain gets aggravated. If yes then most probably coming from the hip. If no then sacroiliac joint.
If its hip then you need to be investigated. Otherwise, start walking and increase distance gradually over the period of time so that your core muscles are strengthened.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Anuj Gupta, Spine Surgeon
