What Causes Severe Heart Palpitations Along With Elevation In Heart Rate?

My husband has heart palpitations. Some get really bad to where he cries. We ve been to the cardiologist five times, he s had a heart sonogram, he just had a stress test, and they don t know what s wrong with him. Here s the catch. He only has heart palpitations when he is at rest. He had to wear a heart monitor and his heart rate got up to 158 while he was sleeping. The other night he stopped breathing and when I put my ear to his chest his heart rate was through the roof and then started dropping dramatically. I had to shake him and he gasped and caught his breath back, then continued sleeping. The cardiologist is sending us to another specialist that deals with (I believe he said he electrolytes) of the heart. Do you think you know what s going on with him?

Before labeling this case as functional condition, he should finished all the test regarding the complains if these test turned unremarkable then this is nothing to worry, now such complains most of the time not related with any heart disease, but could be due to anxiety and stress, hope this information helps, take care, have a nice day.
