What Causes Severe Headaches?

I get these terrible headaches but only on my left side. They happen almost daily and I usually take 800 mg of ibuprophen which helps enough for me to function somewhat. I wear glasses and I have to take them off when I get the headaches because it makes it worse. I have fibromyalgia and was wondering if this may make it worse.

Hello
Welcome to health care magic

Unilateral severe headache may be because of migraine.
Ibuprofen drug helps to recover an attack of migraine but you will need some maientanance drugs too to prevent future attacks of migraine.
You need to visit physician for proper physical examination and certain investigations if needed.

If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend,
-Investigations like CT scan head to rule out any underlying cause causing headache.
-NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen twice daily for couple of days to cover an attack of migraine pain.
-Maientanance drugs like sumitriptan/Rizatriptin for atleast 3 months as preventive prophylaxis against migraine attack.
-Avoid triggering factors like alcohol, caffeinated drinks, bright lights and noises.Whenever you feel you will get a headache, you need to rest in a calm dark room.

Hope this informatiin helps.
Feel free to ask any more doubt.
