What Causes Severe Headaches While On Z Pac For Sinus Infection?

I am a 42 yo female....healthy. Hx of anxiety for 20 years. Controlled with Lorazepam .50 once/day. Recent sinus infection/bronchitis. Took zpak for 5 days. When going to sleep tonight, sudden onset of severe pounding headache....not relieved by Aleve x2. Headache started 45 min ago and remains same. Do I try to sleep or head to ER?

Hi,

Z pack contains antibiotic Azithromycin to control bacterial infection in sinus. But sinusitis is basically allergic inflammation of sinuses causing common cold. The headache here is not being treated by antibiotic alone.

It has to be combined with anti-allergic decongestant medicine to alleviate inflammation in sinus and so the head ache. Please add anticold pill like Sinarest along with Z pack to have complete coverage of basic pathology. Inhalation of water vapor would help improvement. Consult ENT specialist if needful.
