Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife switched to Fetzima 20 mg for few days to 40 mg for last two nights. She is complaining of severe headache and crying a lot. She has been suffering from depression for years now and her doctor had to switch her from Effexor XR which lost its effectiveness and then tried her Tentelix which did not work at all with many side effects. Could Fetzima be finally the replacement SSRI for her . She is sceptical.
As far as my clinical experience is concerned, Fetzima is a selective serotonin and norepinephrine uptake inhibitor - best suitable for depression treatment.
A headache is related to an acute side effect of the new dosage.
It is recommended to start with a lower dose as 10 mg once daily and once the body is accustomed to the same, gradually increase the dose.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
General Surgeon
