What Causes Severe Headaches Along With Abdominal Pain While On Canasa?
I have had ulcers and colon polyps for over a year and a half now. 3 stomach (one duodenal), and over 13 colon polyps. I lost 35lbs in 6-7 months. My surgeon has been treating me for h-pylori as well. I do have a underlying immune condition: Primary Immune Deficiency and take Gamunex 15g a week for that.....sub cu. My latest issue was bleeding while having a bowel movement. My surgeon prescribed Canasa Sup 1000mg. I have been on the Canasa for about a week now and have experienced terrible headaches, body aches and pains, pain in the abdomen and a general ill feeling with fever. I am simply wondering if the Canasa is worth taking at this point? I don t know if I can stand the headaches any longer or the other side effects such as body aches and pains and a general feeling of fatigue and tiredness. Are there any alternatives to Canasa which would work without the side effects?

As per my surgical experience, you are having severe side effects of Canasa (Mesalamine) prescribed for colon condition. Primary thing is to stop the further doses of the Canasa intake to get rid of this. As there are many alternatives to the same, but I can suggest an Ayurvedic herb (Ulmus fulva) giving excellent results in the narrated conditions as described by you. However, I would recommend to discuss the issue with your treating gastroenterologist before deciding molecule change.
