What Causes Severe Fatigue And Palpitations While On Oxybutynin XL?

I just started taking Oxybutynin XL 10mg. a few days ago. Today I have been experiencing fatigue and this evening I had a severe episode of heart palpitations that took my breath away for about half minute. tonight I am experiencing chest pains. Does this sound like a possibility of side effects?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Here are my palpitations and chest pain don't seem like a side effect of Oxybutynin. These can be symptoms of an underlying cardiac disease and should not be ignored.

I would advise you to get an ECG done as soon as possible. If it is due to a cardiac condition it may require immediate medical or surgical intervention. If the cardiac cause is ruled out you may try stopping the drug for a few days to see if your symptoms subside.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman,
