I had an upper endoscopy on September 4th to check for a possible ulcer. Two to three days after the endoscopy, I started getting a very dry throat, then it advanced to severe dryness, scratchiness, and mild soreness. About two weeks later, I noticed my vocal cord area now gets very tired after one 60 minute work conference call, as if I ve been singing out loud for 10 hours straight. Today is October 5th and my throat is still giving me problems. My regular doc prescribed a Z-pack on September 18th, but I m still having throat issues. This is not normal for me - I m 46 years old (non smoker) and I ve only had sore throats associated with the common cold - no throat issues otherwise. The GI doc told me I could have a mild sore throat for a few days after the endoscopy, but it s been a month. Someone else had this problem and said the doc prescribed them some magic mouthwash and it helped immediately. What would you suggest I do about this?
