What Causes Severe Discomfort In The Upper Abdomen Along With Burping?

I occasionally have severe discomfort in my upper abdomen. It feels like a taut bubble right in the middle between my lower ribs and it causes me to burp excessively. I can t get comfortable until the gas pain finally makes it way to the end of my bowels but during that process the pain is sometimes dramatic and I get sweaty and almost black out. It happens to that degree once every few months and to lesser degrees more frequently.

It is possible that the pain is bloating which has different causes such as: (1) GERD- gastro esophageal reflux, this would be the most common cause
(2)celiac disease
(3)lactose intolerance
(4)use of gas producing food such as broccoli, cabbage, turnips, cauliflower, beans, carbonated drinks such as sodas, brussel sprouts

Using reflux medication even if there are no other symptoms of reflux, may help eg nexium, prilosec,prevacid
These medications do not work immediately but may take a few days to take effect.
They however, suppress acid production the best

Immediate relief can be obtained from tums, gasx etc
