What Causes Severe Diarrhea After Taking Birth Control Pills?

Hi, I have a question regarding the birth control pill and experiencing diarrhoea. I am on the pill which I take at the same time every day. I m concerned however as I had unprotected sex with my partner on Thursday night, and then on Saturday night (48 hours later) I had some diarrhoea. I ve read a lot about how sperm can stay alive for days inside your body and am concerned that I may be able to get pregnant from this. Could you please let me know your thoughts? Thank you :)

I understand your concern.
You are right that sperms can stay alive inside the female genital tract for about 48 to 72 hours.
But, use of birth control pills generally offers protection against pregnancy up to 99%. Hence, you need not be worried about pregnancy at this point of time if you are regularly taking the pills as directed.
Diarrhea what you are having could be the side effect of the drug. But, it could have been also caused due to infection as well.
Kindly take medication for infection in the form of Tablet. Secnidazole Forte 2 tablets stat and see for the response. Drink good quantity of fluids to keep yourself well hydrated.
In case the diarrhea continues, then it might be caused due to side effect of the pills. For this, you need to consult Gynecologist and review your mode birth control and adopt to the one which would suit you.
