What Causes Severe Diarrhea After Taking Miralax?

I feel okay, but I have been having very loose bowls for a week. My bowls were growling during the night and I pass a watery bm in the morning. No abdominal pain or cramping. I had been having hard stools so I began to take one teaspoon of miralax daily. I did this for two weeks with normal stools, then one night my bowls were grumbling all night and diarrhea began that morning. I stopped taking the miralax that day and have had diarrhea for a week. ??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Miralax is a laxative and can cause this side effects. I suggest you use Imodium three times a day and probiotic daily. I also suggest you eat plain food such as rice or bananas.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
