My neighbor is hypercritical of her husband and blames all her problems on him. She is frequently depressed and in severe pain but prefers self diagnosis to seeking medical help. She often has problems sleeping at night and wen depressed, withdraws into her bed room for days at a time.. Her husband is my good friend and acts normal and happy except when his around her and she is depressed. On the rare occasion when her pain seems tolerable to her, she is a warm, charitable person. She is often suicidal. They have been married over 30 years and are in their mid 70s. Does she have bipolar disorder. Her family physician recommended psychological help but she refuses to go. I feel sorry for him. What can he do?
