Hello and thanks for your query.
I understand that you are going through a difficult time due to your depressive symptoms. Now, it is well known that
depression is common in people who have suffered a
myocardial infarction. Medical research shows that 20 to 30 % of persons who have had a myocardial infarction develop significant depressive symptoms. It is also possible that the stress of the stent surgery may be precipitating a depression.
Since you seem to be having significant depressive symptoms, it is essential that you get treatment for the same. This is because it has been found that depression adversely affects the outcome of your cardiac problems. So, I would advise you to
consult a psychiatrist for a detailed evaluation and further treatment. There are certain antidepressants like
Sertraline which can be safely used even in persons with cardiac problems. So, please seek professional help as early as possible. Also practicing
relaxation techniques like deep breathing, yoga, etc. can help in relieving stress and thereby help you feel better.
