As per your complain unproductive cough with shortness of breath seems to be due to Bronchitis, Asthma, while at times allergies, side effects of medications and lung infection can also cause the following symptoms.. The medications that you are taking to control acid reflux does not seems to generally cause these symptoms while at times Omeprazole can cause cough.. I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist or Pulmonologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like chest x ray, complete blood picture and Immunoglobulin G levels etc can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly.. As of now you can continue taking anti allergics like Claritin as well as can take cough suppressents containing Dextromethorphan.. You should avoid excess exertion and take sufficient rest.. Once the cause is diagnosed you can be advised to take inhalational steroids, bronchodilators to avoid shortness of breath and in case if infection is diagnosed antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers can be advised..
