What Causes Severe Constipation And Nausea Post Appendectomy?

Hello. I had an appendectomy on May 4th and was doing better until a week out. I have experienced severe constipation and nausea from day 9 on. And at 2 weeks out developed a very intense headache that has now lasted two full days. I haven t had a high fever at all, it only went up to 100.5, and I don t see any pus or drainage on the incisions. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In absence of any fever, tenderness or pus from incision. The cause of your problem seems to be less food intake those days with probably less water intake & non fibrous dost. which has lead to constipation & constipation itself is causing nausea, head ache & fever. Still I would advise you to meet the surgeon let him examine you & decide about the mode of treatment. Do not take any laxative, enema or massage / foment abdomen yourself. Treating doctor would decide it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
