What Causes Severe Chest Pain While Breathing Deep And Coughing?

I have been battling a virus with a bad cough for 4 weeks. Two days ago I started to get a sharp pain in my left chest area feeling similar to heart burn. It has since evolved into a pain in my entire left chest area that gets worse if I inflate my lungs or cough. It is also sore to touch in the front to back area (around the bra band area).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi thanks for asking question.

You have cough since 4 week and no chest pain also.
Mostly you could have interstitial pneumonia or bacterial bronchopneumonia if have fever.Chest x ray done with sputum examination.

Tuberculosis also has to be ruled out by sputum examination.

Acute viral bronchitis also should be ruled out.chest x ray useful.

CBC also done ...

Antibiotic might needed in your case.

If you have gastric ulcer or acid reflux like condition then cough and reffered chest pain can occur. But it is not such severe presentation.

Wish you good health..

Take care...
