What Causes Severe Arm Pain After Drawing Blood?

On Saturday I got blood drawn, when the needle was inserted I had a shocking sensation down my arm into my hand and it made my fingers clench. It s been 5 days since I had the blood drawn. And any time I extended my arm I get the same awful sensation down my arms and fingers and will clench my fingers. Do I need to see a Dr.? Is this normal? is there things I can do to make it go away or a prescription?

Hi & Welcome.

Venous access or venipuncture (to draw the blood) can cause injury to the underlying nerves in the cubital fossa (front portion of the elbow).
Based on the history given, you seem to be suffering from nerve injury during the process of venipuncture.

I advise you to consult a doctor or neurologist for further evaluation.
You may need certain tests such as nerve conduction study or EMG for an accurate diagnosis following which your doctor will prescribe either Gabapentine or Pregabalin along with Mecobalmine injection.

These don't cure the nerve damage, but they often help with the pain.

Hope the advice given would be useful.
