Hi. Thanks for your query and an elucidate history. You son has got a pain in abdomen for over a week, the Doctor auscultated and said it was gas. Well, gas alone can not cause pains for more than a week. There has to be a reason for this. I would advise you to take him to the Gastro, get the following investigations done: X-ray of the abdomen in a standing position; this is non-expensive investigation which can tell about the air-fluid shadows of intestinal obstruction. The intestinal obstruction will be made severe by taking anything which is aerated. Pepto can increase the problems in a case of an intestinal obstruction. Get other investigations as suggested by Gastro- like ultrasonography / CT scan, Enteroclysis and so on. The treatment will depend upon the clinical diagnosis and investigations .
