What Causes Seizures And Nose Bleeding While Suffering From A Brain Tumor?

FRIEND WAS TOLD SHE HAD A SMALL BENIGN BRAIN TUMOR. THE OTHER DAY, SHE HAD TWO SEIZURES, AND THEN BECAME LUCID, AND A LITTLE WHILE LATER, HAD A MAJOR BLEED, SUPPOSEDLY FROM TUMOR. SHE IS NOW DECLARED BRAIN DEAD, (NO BRAIN WAVES) AND IS ON A VENTILATIOR. DOC SAID A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO WHEN SHE HAD A FEW SEIZURES AND WAS UNCONSCIOUS FOR ALMOST TWO DAYS, IT WAS JUST A TINY TUMOR, NO NEED TO WORRY. SHE RECOVERED AND WAS FINE FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS, AND NOW , SHE IS A VEGETABLE. WHAT WAS REALLY GOING ON IN BRAIN?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

We will try to help you in best way possible. First of all it's sad to know what your friend had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, if she is currently on ventilator or in vegetative state final opinion by a neurologist should preferably be sought. regarding continuation of her therapy and any need of neurosurgical intervention to be beneficial or not in her case but based on her current situation the prognosis doesn't seem to be very optimistic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
