What Causes Seeing Red Floaters With Yellow Ring In Vision?

During Pilates, when I got up from a laying down position, I saw red spots for a short time. It happened once each, the last 2 times. Once it was just a general red floater and the second time it was a distinct yellow or white circle with a red outline. Is this something that I should call my PCP about, or my opthomologist?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The appearance of red floaters and yellow ring during vision is absolutely not normal part of vision pathway. There can be various conditions responsible for the same such as:
- Side effect of certain drugs such as Sildenafil (PDE 5 inhibitor), Digoxin (cardiac glycoside)
- Problems of retina
- Optic disc issues
- Alterations in Rods and Cons of retina

You should seek immediate attention with your Opthalmologist for best possible guidelines of cure after fundoscopy examination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
