What Causes Runny Nose After Liquid Intake?

My noses start running down when I take any liquid food or even a glass of water. Initially it was not very significant, but now, after a period of 6 to 8 years, the problem has aggravated. After half an hour or so, the running down of nose stops of its own. Is it because of any allergic reactions? What is the remedy? Regards. CB.Mishra

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to laryngopharyngeal reflux. A physical examination with ENT specialist is well appreciated. For laryngopharyngeal reflux I would suggest taking proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole ( Nexium ) for long term. I would also suggest taking combination of antihistamine like levocetirizine and mast cell stabilzers like monteleukast for 1 to 2 weeks also. Avoid too cold and too hot drinks as well as foods.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
