What Causes Ringing Sound In Ears With Loss Of Hearing And Memory Loss?

Yes I do have a question for you. My ex husband suffered from something and he never got checked out maybe you could help me. He said he had a very loud noise in his ears and then he couldnt hear anything for a few days. He threw up violently for days and he couldnt feel most of his body. He said he actually felt as if he was going to die. Like the inside of his whole body hurt. He said his eyes were shakey and then his sight went for a few days as well. Now suffers from short term memory loss. Like immediate things that he is doing. I must tell you to keep in mind that he has done countless types of drugs and his addiction was coccaine. He told me that he had not done any that day but one never knows. Any Ideas?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The commonest causes of memory loss, giddiness, tinnitus and loss of hearing are as follows:
*Tumor in brain can cause such changes simultaneously.
* Problems with internal ear giving inflammation and imbalance of semicircular canal that are responsible for balancing the body.

I would adviser him the following:
Clinical evaluation by a Doctor and investigations like CT scan or MRI of brain and Mastoids to see for the cause.
Once the cause is found then the treatment will be specific.
As for the addiction, it can be the cause since the long addiction can cause such changes and detailed history, clinical evaluation and investigations can only tell about the possible diagnosis and management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
