What Causes Ringing Of Ears And Hearing Loss?

This morning my left ear started to ring. I was already at work when I noticed a sudden drop in my ability to hear out of that ear. It sounded like I had an ear plug in. A few times I felt a bit disoriented but not bad. I am an interpreter for deaf people and rely on my ears for my income. Is this tinnitis or something else?
