What Causes Right Hand Paralysis With A Red Spot In Between The Fingers?
27 y o very healthy female. wakes Sunday with paralysis of right hand; one red spot between thumb and first finger. No injury prior to the paralysis. Also has headache, forearm and rest of right arm not an issue. She cannot straighten fingers, cannot grip things, cannot hold a brush. Had MRI -came back with nothing; Blood tests came back fine. 24 hours no change.
Left side of the brain is responsible for controlling the movement of the right side of the body. Usually acute weakness on right side of the body can occur due to cervical spinal stenosis(pinched nerve), stroke, tumor, tuberculosis (sec manifestations).
Other causes are hypertension, bleeding inside the tumor in the left side of the brain or multiple sclerosis. Get examined physically & get all investigations done. CBC, X-ray, CT, MRI, or Angiography if required. Depending upon the pathology the treatment is done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
