What Causes Retroperitoneal Fibrosis?
I have Retroperitoneal Fibrosis in the tube between my kidney & bladder it is only a small amount. I have a severe stabbing pain in left abdomen. The hospital has prescribed steroids. I am reluctant to take them because of the horrific side affects. I already suffer from type 2 diabetes & hypertension. Is there any other treatment available? I am male aged 59.

Other contributing factors include previous abdominal surgery, infections, and certain medications. For treating retroperitoneal fibrosis, there are a few options other than steroids, such as:
Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for pain relief. Interventional radiology procedures such as angioplasty or stenting. Immunosuppressant drugs such as azathioprine or methotrexate.
