Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Restricted Bowel Movement In A Hirsch Sprung Disease Person?
Hello, I was born with hirchsprungs disease and had a colostomy take down when I was a toddler. I am now 51 years old. I am able to control my own bowel movements, in other words if my body tells me to go #2 I decide if I want to or wait. Lately I have been eating a lot but not pooping but very little. I have never had this problem before. My stomach does not hurt it is not extended I feel fine but I am very concerned.
As per my clinical experience, Hirsch sprung disease is a condition with absence of Myenteric nerve plexuses in the submucosa of affected segment of bowel and hence the proximal portion of the colon gets distended due to lack of propulsive facility.
I would like to know the status of biopsy report in this instance to comment further so far as restricted bowel movements are concerned.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
