I had a chest xray last sept.28,2015 and the result is minimal residual fibrosis left lobe. I would like to know what was the cause of that findings. On the medical clinic I went with for medical exam as well (Sept.29,2015), I was told to undergo sputum examination for AFB smear and culture. Will there be a significant abnormal result in sputum exam to be detected? I m so worried!
Findings suggests minimal fibrosis in left lung.Fibrosis is a healed stage and generally this specific finding doesn't require any treatment. However, your clinician may advised investigations to exclude any persistent infection. Sputum and AFB smear is advised to exclude tuberculosis. You may need clinical correlation and I don't expect any adverse findings.
