What Causes Reduced Blood Pressure And Elevated Pulse Rate While On Coumadin?
my father is 86 long-time diabetic, asymptomatic afib, enlarged prostate, 3 yrs ago had knee replacement. Currently he has periods of low blood pressure and high pulse 90-120. On several occasions he feels extreme weakness and falls down feels a bit dizzy but doesn t black out or lose conscientiousness. This concerns us as he is on coumadin. Dr can t figure out why he falls and what is causing this low bp and high pulse
Hello, i can understand your concern. you have mentioned your father has a fib, there are instances where the rythm is irregular for a couple of mins in such cases leading to unconsiousness and fall in bp. i would suggest a holter monitoring done for your father for few days to note any irregularity in the rythm. based on this your cardiologist can adjust the dosage of medication or plan for a pacemaker. hope i have answered your query have a nice day
