What Causes Redness On The Groin, Legs And Stomach?
About 6 weeks ago I sustained a fall and broke my left arm very close to the shoulder. I had to wear a cloth brace for 3 weeks for it to heal. In the meantime I developed several areas around my groin area and legs. I have treated it with several things and it seems not to be getting better. I am heavy and washing with one hand was hard but I did my best to stay clean. Now under my tummy and down my leg and pubic area the red has spread. The color is dark red to almost purple. it doesn t itch but hurts pretty bad and I am still trying to heal it. What do you think it might be and should I go to my doctor.
Hi. As per your case history you are fungal infection called as tinea corporis. My treatment advice is - 1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily. 2. Apply an antifungal cream like clotrimazole cream twice daily on it. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral fluconazole, itraconazole and terbinafine taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
