What Causes Redness On Chest After Insect Bite?

I have an insect bite on my chest, above the breast, which is red, about the size of a quarter, with a curved comet like tail. The actual bite mark is a bit redder than the rest of the rash . I ve had it for a week with no change, even after using cortisone cream. Also, it is not an itchy rash. Any idea what s going on?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear- thanks for using our service and will give you my medical advise. When you have an insect bite, it can give you a local allergic reaction and that will make the skin red, elevated and sometimes painful. This can last 2-3 days until the body fights against the allergy and goes back to normal. You can use local benadryl cream to cover the area and take Benadryl tablets 25mg every 8 hrs as needed to help the inflammation. If it doesn't go away in 4 days, you should see your general doctor or a dermatologist to make sure that you don't have a concomitant infection or cellulitis.
I hope that my advise has been helpful
