What Causes Redness On Ankles And Lower Legs?

On my lower legs, lower than mid shin down to ankles is a redness. No swelling, no itching. Although my skin is super dry. It almost looks like broken blood vessels or a bunch of "freckles". Mostly on medial side,a little on lateral. Female, 60 yrs old

Hi,
Thanks for contacting HCM. When there is a brown discoloration on the lower legs, the one thing that is mainly considered is circulation. If the veins aren't working as well as they should, the blood can pool in the area and 'stain' the skin, especially on the medial side of the ankle. It is recommended to see a physician for circulation tests or exams that can also rule out any issues with the circulation. Many times, compression stockings are prescribed to assist the veins.
I hope this helped answer your question, if you have any further questions, I am here to help.
Thanks.
