Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Redness In The Sclera Of The Right Eye?
I have a very bright redness in the inside half of the white of my right eye. It just appeared yesterday very shortly after my am workout. (very moderate exercise followed by pushups and some easy yoga moves) I had no trauma, no itching or scratching before the redness and no discomfort or visual impairment after the redness appeared. From my research it appears almost certain that I have a plain old subconjunctival (sp?) hemorrhage. I am 65 and take Coumadin due to a replaced heart valve but am in excellent health and quite active for my age. My normal am workout is a run of about 2.5 miles on the treadmill at moderate pace with another .5 mile at a more brisk pace (about 7 mph) My question is whether I can continue to run or do I have to wait until the blood in my eyecompletely dissipates. If I run should I back off of the faster paced finish until the redness disappears ?
hello, it is subconjunctival hemorrhage. it will resolve itself with two to three weeks. no need to stop regular exercise. but avoid vigorous exercises.
