What Causes Redness At The Incision Site With Fever?

I have a friend that had shoulder surgery about 12 months ago. He is going in for a second shoulder surgery (laparoscopic) in two days. I believe that they have to correct the joint again and reattach in areas. He has not been able to lift his arm up at all in months. I am a little concerned that the shoulder area where the incision was from the last surgery is red, in a circular type area of about 4 inches in diameter. He has a fever of about 100.8. Is this something that I should take him I m the emergency room immediately or can it wait for him to be admitted for surgery on Tuesday?

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if you are just worry about the fever then this would be due to infection and this need to be ruled out, if he is not on antibiotic then he need to start that, else this is nothing to worry, I guess the surgical team would take best care of him, take care.
