What Causes Redness And Swelling On The Plica Fimbriata?

Hi my Plica Fimbriata has been swollen, red and sore for about 5 days now. It has slightly irritated my throat as well. Should I be worried at all? I haven t tried to do much besides brush and rinse with salt water a couple times. How long will this last and how often should I rinse a day with salt water?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your query red and sore plica fimbriata that is a fold of mucosa present on underside of the tongue can be due to causes like burning with hot foods, oral infections, trauma to the tongue with hard foods or irritation with spicy foods, concentrated mouthwash solutions etc..
While throat irritation can be most probably due to throat infection, acid reflux etc..
As of now I would suggest you to take anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You should continue doing warm saline gargles..
Soda bicarb gargles can also help..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Drink plenty of water and take a soft and bland diet..
In case of no improvement in a week consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
