What Causes Reddish Dots On Arms?

I have noticed red dots appearing on both of my arms. They have white halos around them. They are not raised much and do not itch. What could this be? I first noticed one dot on top of my daughters foot yesterday afternoon and by last night I noticed the same thing on me! Mine are spreading but she still is the one dot.
