What Causes Red Spots On The Penis?

I had unprotected sex with a coworker a little over a month ago. Now, for the past couple weeks, I have had a small red spot, very slightly raised, on the head of my penis. It does not itch or burn and doesn't appear like a blister or isn't sore. I've also had a mild sore throat for the past wee, and soon after sex with this woman, I had itchy blisters on my fingers that, when scratched, leaked a clear fluid. The blisters have gone but that red spot on my penis bothers me. Is it possible this is herpes? It is just one spot and it doesn't appear to be changing. Thank you.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

From your description this red spot does not seem like a lesion of genital herpes.
Herpetic lesions are typically erosions or breaks in the skin and have a painful or burning sensation.
This seem more like a candidal balanitis Or an Irritant dermatitis to harsh cleansing of the delicate genital skin.
However, as your last sexual contact was an unprotected one, therefore, you must screen for STD's irrespective of symptoms and signs.
I suggest screening for HIV and syphilis (VDRL/RPR) at 1 month irrespective of symptoms or signs. It should be repeated at 3 months for a conclusive result.
Herpes can be tested for by an ELISA test as early as 2-4 weeks after possible infection to look for circulating antibodies against Hsv.
Moreover, if you notice any urethral discharge, burning sensation, erosions or ulcers, or warts/ growths in the genital region you most get yourself checked with a venereologist.
