Hi,

The sudden appearance of red spot can be due small bleeding over the white area. This can be due to accidental injury to the eye ball with finger or from the edge of the pillow. This usually resolves with out treatment in 2-3 weeks. In case if it does not start decreasing in size with in 2-3 days or if it worsens consult the eye specialist in your region.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
