What Causes Red Splotchy Rashes Between Breasts
I ve had a red splotchy rash between my breasts for a few months now. Occasionally itchy, or bumpy but nothing out of the ordinary other than that. I ve also been breaking out in hives on my arms and my hands have been getting small bumps in clusters that resolve themselves and turn into dry skin in a couple of days. What s going on? Is this an allergy?

Presence of hives and small bumps in clusters, which resolve themselves seem likely to be allergic. Similarly splotchy rash between breast may be also allergic, but most commonly, it is due to itertrigo, due to the friction caused by rubbing of breasts with each other. Some times these intertrigo lesions may be infected with bacteria or fungus thus giving the appearance of splotchy rash and sometimes giving a smell also.
Treatment will depend on oral anti-allergic like cetrizine or loratidine etc. Also topical use of steroids may be needed . For bacterial infection or fungal infection in intertrigo, topical anti-bacterial or anti-fungal ointment may be used. Some times in hard to treat cases of intertrigo, oral anti biotics or anti-fungal course may be needed under guidance of your doctor.
