General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You have history of herpes (HSV 1 and 2). Now, you are having severe pain in the throat and red lumps at the back of the throat. You are suggested to gargle your throat with warm salt water. Take liquid or semi solid food at room temperature. To reduce pain you can take NSAIDS, Combiflam, one SOS when required after taking food. You are suggested to get it clinically examined by an ENT. Get swab test & sputum tests done for routine examination and culture.

You should continue to take Acyclovir that has been prescribed to you by your treating doctor. You can also take a course of Augmentin for relief. You may need to get admitted in a hospital so that you can get immediate medical care. You may need treatment by intravenous route for better and faster relief.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
