I ve had red lines appear in my butt and I have no idea why. At first I thought it might be stretch marks or something. I m a 5 8 140lb male, but I had been recently cliff diving and figured it could be from that...That was three or four weeks ago now and the lines persist. There is no pain no irritation in fact for the most part I have no idea they are there and really can t even remember when they showed up only that they did.I treated them with gold bond and cortisone and they seemed to go away but not 100% they finally faded a bit and I thought I was finally done until I checked today just to make sure and saw them as bright red as they had been when they first appeared. The red lines are randomly placed around my thighs and butt with no real order. One or two of the less bright red ones look like they left scars that look like stretch marks or those could ve been there already the rest are just red lines. I ll set up an appointment with a dermatologist but was hoping for some peace of mind on the internet when I found this any clue?
Hi. It could be striae rubra. See stretch marks can initially present as red lines and is known as striae rubra. Later on, they become atrophic and are seen as whitish/yellowish depressed lines (striae alba). People are more familiar with striae alba, but its striae rubra which is more treatment responsive. Hope it helps.
