What Causes Red Bumps On The Lips?

I just returned from Panama after a week long fishing trip, I notice when I was there above my lip I developed I guess what looks like a cold sore, there was no discharge, or red bumps, sores which could indicate herpes, I did kiss some woman at the resort that worked there to say hello and good bye, was just concerned, I have no other symptoms at all, it doesn t hurt.

Hi,

A bump above the upper lip can be due to a number of causes, however, the common ones can be a cold sore or a hair follicle infection.

For now, you can apply Muricoprin ointment over it and do cool compresses over it.

In case if the bumps increase in size and number you should consult an Emergency room and get checked. A clinical examination and a blood test can be done to rule out the exact cause.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
